The vision to evangelize the “10/40 Window” was given to a small band of Chinese Christians in the late 1920’s. That vision has remained in the heart of the Chinese church for 80 years and is still alive today. One small group of missionaries made it all the way to Xinjiang in the 1940’s, but were stopped and imprisoned there by the government. The Back to Jerusalem Gospel Mission was founded by Brother Peter Xu in 2003 to raise awareness of the vision and train missionaries to fulfill the mission.

The History of Back to Jerusalem Gospel Mission

The Back to Jerusalem Gospel Mission was founded in 2003 to mobilize the Chinese House Church to reach the unreached people groups of the 10/40 Window. Brother Peter Xu travels around the world, sharing the vision God has given the Chinese Church to share the gospel of Jesus Christ from China, all the way "Back to Jerusalem". His ministry mobilizes the Chinese Church in four major areas:  Evangelism, Training, Sending, and Supporting.

The Chinese House Church movement

The Chinese House Church movement has experienced amazing growth in the past 40 years. From a handful of missionaries and Chinese Christians in the 1940s, to between 100 and 130 million believers today, the church has grown in spite of extreme persecution by the changing government leadership. It is a church dedicated to prayer, to evangelism, and to the vision given by God to reach the unreached with the Gospel of Jesus.

The Back to Jerusalem vision was renewed

About 40 years ago, The Chinese church came to realize that Jesus’ command in Acts was for them:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

The gospel had started in Jerusalem, had spread west, and had stopped in China. The goal of the church is to complete the travel of the gospel around the globe, all the way back to where it started – Back to Jerusalem!

Mission and Vision:

Back to Jerusalem Gospel Mission is a tool of God to complete the Great Commission by mobilizing, training, sending and supporting Asian missionaries throughout the continent. To bring honor to God by evangelizing and discipling the Unreached Peoples of Asia - all the way back to Jerusalem!
